The summer of 2026 has officially kicked off with the highly anticipated return of I Kissed A Girl (IKAG). The BBC’s popular dating show has captivated audiences once again, with viewers eagerly binge-watching the latest episodes and forming connections with the contestants. Among the new arrivals, Irish footballer Blessing has quickly become a fan favorite, catching the eye of both her fellow contestants and viewers at home.
In an exclusive interview, Blessing shares her experiences from the Masseria the show’s picturesque setting, and the personal growth she encountered during her time on the show. From navigating new relationships to embracing vulnerability, Blessing’s journey on IKAG is one of self-discovery and empowerment.
Blessing’s journey begins
Blessing’s path to IKAG started with a simple application, encouraged by a friend from America. Little did she know that this opportunity would lead her to the Masseria and into the hearts of viewers worldwide. As an athlete, Blessing was no stranger to high-stakes environments, and she entered the show with a determined mindset. “This is a big opportunity, just make the most of it,” she remarked, ready to shake things up and pursue her goals.
Entering the Masseria as a new arrival, Blessing was accompanied by her friends Almayra and Kayleigh which made the transition smoother. The show’s dynamic quickly shifted with the introduction of new contestants, and Blessing found herself at the center of attention, particularly catching the eye of Lindsey.
Embracing vulnerability and personal growth
Throughout her time on IKAG, Blessing faced two significant challenges: being vulnerable and her relationship with physical touch. As an athlete, she was accustomed to keeping her emotions in check, but the show required her to wear her heart on her sleeve. “I’m not used to crying in front of people,” she admitted, highlighting the daunting nature of the task. However, Blessing came to understand the power of vulnerability, recognizing that it allowed her true self to shine.
The representation on IKAG holds immense importance for Blessing, as it resonates with her personal experiences growing up as a queer individual. Seeing others confidently embrace their identities on screen can be fulfilling and inspiring, especially for those who may feel isolated in their own journeys. Blessing’s presence on the show as a Black masculine lesbian from Ireland is a testament to the show’s commitment to diverse representation.
Style and self-expression
Blessing’s personal style journey has been an evolution, influenced by her athletic background and experiences in America. As a tomboy, she has always gravitated towards tracksuits, but her time in America exposed her to new patterns, prints, and statement pieces. On the show, Blessing and her fellow masc contestants embraced each other’s styles, swapping clothes and celebrating their unique expressions. “Growing up, we had to find our own style alone. On the show, embracing each other’s style together was an amazing feeling,” she shared.
Reflecting on what her younger self would have thought about seeing her on TV, Blessing expressed that it would have been a source of inspiration and belonging. “I would have loved it! It would have done wonders for me,” she said, emphasizing the importance of the show for young people. Blessing’s journey on IKAG is not just a story of love and self-discovery but also a beacon of hope and representation for the LGBTQIA+ community.
Four episodes of IKAG are currently available on BBC iPlayer with two new episodes released every Tuesday at 6 am on iPlayer and 9 pm on BBC Three. Don’t miss the chance to follow Blessing’s journey and the other contestants as they navigate love and self-discovery on the hit show.
