In a thrilling turn of events for music enthusiasts, a concert film documenting George Michael’s Faith Tour has been rediscovered and is set to grace cinema screens this autumn. The film, titled George Michael: The Faith Tour captures the essence of Michael’s first solo tour, which took place in support of his debut album, Faith.

The footage, which was long considered lost, was meticulously restored and remastered, offering fans a unique opportunity to relive the magic of Michael’s performances. The film is scheduled to premiere in UK and Irish cinemas on 6 November 2026 with a US release following on 11 December.

The Making of George Michael: The Faith Tour

The concert film was shot using 14 cameras on 35mm film over two nights at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy in May 1988. Directed by Andy Morahan and David Austin, both of whom had previously collaborated with Michael, the film promises to be a cinematic and audio experience like no other.

Morahan, known for directing Michael’s music videos for FaithCareless Whisper and Last Christmas brings his expertise to this project. Austin, who directed George Michael: Freedom Uncut and George Michael at the Palais Garnier, Paris adds another layer of authenticity to the film.

Behind the Scenes and Additional Features

The film opens with Finding Faith an original short by Mary McCartney, which provides context around the tour and its significance. Additionally, the film includes a previously unheard interview with Michael, photographs by Herb Ritts, and behind-the-scenes footage from the Faith music video.

The Faith Tour was a monumental event in Michael’s career, spanning more than 100 shows across 16 countries and choreographed by Paula Abdul. The tour marked Michael’s transition from his time in Wham! to his successful solo career.

The Live Album: A Musical Companion

Complementing the cinema release is an 18-track live album featuring previously unreleased recordings from Michael’s solo career and his time with Wham!. The album, released by George Michael Entertainment and Sony Music Entertainment, offers a musical journey through Michael’s iconic performances.

Michael’s debut solo album, Faith released in October 1987, won Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards and produced four US No. 1 singles, including Faith and Father Figure. Earlier this year, Sony Music and George Michael Entertainment released multiple new editions of the Faith album, further celebrating Michael’s musical legacy.

The release of George Michael: The Faith Tour comes on the heels of another archival project, Wham! 10 Days in China which revisited Michael’s earlier life with Andrew Ridgeley and their historic 1985 trip to China. This cinematic and musical revival allows fans to immerse themselves in Michael’s extraordinary career and relive the moments that defined his legacy.
