The world of hockey romance dramas has been abuzz with speculation about Jack Innanen‘s potential involvement in Heated Rivalry season 2. The Canadian actor, known for his charismatic performances, had expressed a keen interest in joining the cast of the critically acclaimed series. However, recent developments have shed light on why Innanen won’t be suiting up for the show after all.

Innanen’s journey with Heated Rivalry began with a series of public expressions of interest. In April, he told Entertainment Weekly that he would be the “perfect” fit for the series, citing his enthusiasm for hockey and his willingness to embrace any role. He even joked about practicing his stick handling and improving his hip mobility, showcasing his dedication to the craft.

Scheduling Conflicts Derail Innanen’s Heated Rivalry Dreams

Despite his eagerness, Innanen’s dreams of joining Heated Rivalry season 2 were dashed due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts. On 10 June, it was revealed that Innanen had been offered a role in the series but was unable to accept it. The specific details of the role remain undisclosed, adding an air of mystery to the situation.

Innanen addressed the casting news while attending the Adults season 2 premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival. His absence from Heated Rivalry season 2 is a significant blow to fans who had been eagerly anticipating his potential portrayal of characters like Troy Barrett or Wyatt Hayes. Showrunner Jacob Tierney had previously confirmed that Troy Barrett would appear in the upcoming season, fueling speculation about Innanen’s possible involvement.

Heated Rivalry season 2 is set to begin filming later this year, with a planned release in. The new season will adapt events from Rachel Reid’s novel The Long Game continuing the story of hockey stars Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Produced by Crave in Canada, the series will stream internationally on HBO Max.

While Innanen’s absence from Heated Rivalry is disappointing, he remains busy with multiple television projects. He is set to return for season 2 of Netflix’s Big Mistakes which recently secured a renewal following a successful debut season. Production on the comedy series is expected to take place in New Jersey with Innanen reprising his role as Max.
