Lilith's Journey: From League of Legends Star to LGBTQ+ Advocate

The Esports World Cup 2026 has kicked off in Paris, bringing together the best gamers from around the world. Among them is Lilith a trans gamer who has become a beacon of hope and change in the competitive gaming scene. Her journey is one of resilience, passion, and advocacy, making her a standout figure in the world of esports.

Lilith, whose real name is Luna Benzerara-Arnoux is a 28-year-old gamer who has made a significant impact in League of Legends (LoL). Her story is not just about her skills in the game but also about her fight for inclusivity and her journey of self-discovery.

From Personal Struggles to Gaming Success

Lilith’s journey began in her teenage years when she discovered League of Legends. At the time, she was grappling with her sexual orientation and the loss of a close friend who took his own life due to homophobic bullying. This tragic event left a deep impact on her and fueled her desire to advocate for LGBTQ+ rights.

As she grew older, Lilith also struggled with her gender identity. Her family’s dismissive attitude towards her questions about her identity pushed her to seek solace in gaming. However, in 2019, she hit rock bottom. Struggling with depression and financial instability, she attempted to take her own life. Fortunately, she was saved by a friend who intervened just in time.

During the first COVID-19 lockdown, Lilith began her transition at the age of 21. It was also during this time that she was discovered by fellow gamer Sanah who invited her to join the semi-professional gaming scene. For Lilith, gaming has been a lifeline, providing her with a sense of belonging and purpose. As she puts it, “Si je suis encore en vie aujourd’hui, c’est grâce aux jeux vidéo”.

Breaking Barriers in the Gaming World

In the world of esports Lilith has carved out a niche for herself as a midlaner in League of Legends. This role is often seen as the leader of the team, a responsibility that Lilith takes seriously both in the game and in her advocacy for inclusivity.

Lilith has been vocal about the need for better conditions for gamers, increased visibility for inclusive scenes, and support for teams. She has worked closely with Riot Games and competition organizers to bring about these changes. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed, with many in the gaming community recognizing her as a trailblazer.

Her former manager, Caelan from Solary her last team, praised her determination and willingness to speak up. “Elle est toujours prête à faire entendre sa voix et défendre ses opinions” Caelan said. Her friend Yume a commentator in the esports scene, described her as an “incarnation of courage”.

Facing Adversity and Continuing the Fight

Despite her success, Lilith has faced her share of challenges. When she joined Solary in, she became the target of a transphobic harassment campaign online. The attacks were relentless, with trolls constantly insulting and belittling her. In response, she posted a heartfelt message on a social media platform during the Trans Visibility Day calling for support and understanding.

Currently, Lilith is focusing on creating content on platforms like TwitchYouTube and social media. She has found a support system in her father, stepmother, and boyfriend, who have stood by her through thick and thin. Lilith is learning to live with her traumas and is determined to continue her fight for inclusivity and acceptance in the gaming world.

As the Esports World Cup 2026 unfolds in Paris, Lilith’s story serves as a reminder of the power of resilience and the importance of advocacy. Her journey is an inspiration to many, proving that one person can make a difference in the world of gaming and beyond.
