Brighton is buzzing with excitement as it prepares to host its 35th annual Pride celebration from 1-2 August 2026. This year’s theme, The Power of Love honors the event’s rich history and the ongoing struggle for LGBTQ+ rights. The festivities kick off with the vibrant Pride Parade winding its way through the city before culminating in the Pride on the Park extravaganza at Preston Park.
The event has grown into a massive celebration of diversity and inclusion drawing visitors from across the UK and beyond. With a stellar lineup featuring RayeDiana RossParis HiltonHolly Johnson and many more, this year’s Pride is set to be one of the most memorable yet.
Headliners and Highlights
The main stage at Preston Park will be graced by some of the biggest names in music. Raye the chart-topping sensation, will headline the first day, bringing her fierce hits and highly anticipated new album to the stage. Her performance promises to be a highlight of the weekend, with fans eagerly awaiting her return to Brighton Pride after previous appearances in and 2026.
On the second day, global icon Diana Ross will make her Brighton Pride debut, closing the weekend with a career-spanning journey through her greatest hits. From timeless classics like Ain’t No Mountain High Enough to the queer disco anthem I’m Coming Out her performance is sure to be an unforgettable moment in Brighton Pride history.
Other notable performers include RuPaul making his first-ever Brighton Pride appearance, alongside sets from Jessie JLeigh-AnneSelf Esteem and many more. The diverse lineup reflects the event’s commitment to celebrating and promoting LGBTQ+ talent.
Travel and Logistics
With large crowds expected, planning ahead is essential for a smooth and enjoyable Pride weekend. The city will be bustling with activity, and visitors are advised to allow extra time for travel. Road closures will be in place around Preston Park from Thursday evening to Sunday and the LGBTQ+ Community Parade will take place on Saturday 1 August traveling from Hove Lawns through the city center to Preston Park.
For those traveling by trainBrighton Station will be the main hub for arrivals and departures. The station’s popular rainbow queuing system will return to help passengers find the correct queue for their onward journey. Visitors are encouraged to buy tickets in advance and allow at least one hour to travel from festival sites or the seafront to the station.
Bus services will also be affected, with some changes to routes and timetables from Thursday 30 July until Monday 3 August. Dedicated shuttle services will operate to and from Preston Park linking key event locations including the Old Steine and Waterhall Campsite. Passengers are advised to check routes and timetables before traveling.
The city’s Park & Ride service will be available on Sunday 2 August offering a convenient alternative to driving into the city. Visitors can park at the Falmer Campus at the University of Sussex and take the 25 bus service into the city center. The service will cost £6.50 for a vehicle carrying up to 5 adults, with children traveling free of charge.
A Celebration of Resilience and Unity
Brighton Pride 2026 is not just a celebration; it’s a reminder of the resilience and unity of the LGBTQ+ community. The event’s history dates back to 1973, when the Sussex Gay Liberation Front organized the first Gay Day to test the waters for a Pride march. While only a small part of the community felt safe enough to march in 1973, Pride did not return again until 1991.
This anniversary invites us to remember the courage it took to be visible during years when showing up at all was an act of resistance. Pride grew because people stood together, united and determined. As we celebrate 35 years of Brighton & Hove Pride, we honor those early activists and acknowledge how their bravery and unity carried us all forward.
The event’s sole ethos is to promote diversity, inclusion, and education within our communities while supporting local LGBTQ+ charities, community groups, and projects through the Pride Community Foundation.
