Aurora Matrix, the charismatic winner of Canada’s Drag Race All Stars has shared insights into their romantic relationship with Matthew Finlan the actor known for his role in Heated Rivalry. The couple, who have been dating on and off for two years, have found a unique balance between their distinct worlds.
Matrix, a non-binary and queer performer, uses the pronouns she/they in drag and they/them out of drag. Their journey in the drag community has been marked by success, including appearances on Canada’s Drag Race Season 1 and the subsequent All Stars season. Meanwhile, Finlan has made a name for himself as Kyle Swift in Heated Rivalry a character from author Rachel Reid’s Common Goal book series.
A Balanced Love Across Different Worlds
Matrix described their relationship with Finlan as a fairytale highlighting the unique dynamic between their careers. We’ve been together for a little bit now, and it’s been truly the best thing in the world they shared. Finlan, being an actor, understands the artistic world Matrix inhabits but is not directly involved in the drag scene. So it’s a good little, like, you understand my world, but you’re not necessarily in my world, and it’s a great balance Matrix explained.
This balance has been crucial for Matrix, who values having someone who appreciates their world without being immersed in it. I feel like it’s kind of the best thing and what I’ve been wanting my whole life they added. The couple’s relationship has evolved over time, with Matrix admitting they were initially non-committal but eventually realized their feelings for Finlan.

Before filming Canada’s Drag Race All Stars Matrix set clear boundaries with Finlan, telling him he was not a priority due to the demands of the show. However, during their time apart, Matrix found themselves missing Finlan and considering the seriousness of their relationship. Upon returning to Toronto Matrix confessed their feelings, leading to a blossoming romance. I planted the seed, and it worked. I think there’s something that’s flourishing here, and since then, we’ve been together, and it’s been a fairytale.
Matrix also shared their dating philosophy, emphasizing the importance of finding someone equally obsessed with them. I need someone who is just as obsessed with me as I am obsessed with them they stated. This philosophy has guided their journey in finding a meaningful relationship, despite some past ghosting experiences. So have I ghosted a little in the past? Heated Rivalry Season 2: What’s Next?
As for Heated Rivalry Season 2 filming began earlier this month in Toronto with several cast members confirmed to reprise their roles. Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie will return as Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov respectively. New additions include Daniel Diemer and Shaheen Jafargholi who will play Ryan Price and Fabian Salah. Other confirmed cast members are Emily HampshireEdvin RydingRobert NaylorSabrina Jalees and Priyanka with Robbie G.K. and François Arnaud also expected to return.
The highly anticipated season is scheduled for release in April 2027 via Sky in the UK. While Finlan’s return has not been confirmed, fans are eager to see the continuation of the popular hockey series.
